The prefecture Heraklion is the biggest and densely populated
prefecture of Crete. Apart from the archaeological and historical
interest of band, there are appreciable villages, tourist
units and small and big beaches.
Heraklion is constituted by the old city, which is surrounded
by the castle walls, and the new city, which has been spread
outside of the walls.
